Current Projects

My current research revolves around the intersection of rhetoric, gender, and trauma studies with a focus on examining discourses surrounding sexual assault and sexual assault prevention. In particular, I’m interested in exploring the ways in which efforts to stop sexual assault can often end up inadvertently reinscribing the rape culture that they explicitly state they want to dismantle.

Like anyone, I have several lines of research ongoing simultaneously. Some of the projects I am currently interested in are:

  • Examining anti-sexual assault movements and their relationship with gender ideologies over time
  • Establishing a trauma-informed pedagogical practiced based on a rhetoric of identification
